It has been said that young people watch a lot of TV, and I´ve always belived in it and thought it was so. Though acording to a current investigation, it´s found that young people in Sweden watch little TV compared to other age-groups (source: www.dn.se). This surprised me and I got interested and started thinking about it. In this article I´m going to try to answer the questions why it is so, what they do instead in their sparetime and if this means anything of importance. My personal theory is that young people in Sweden today wants more out of life. They seek adventure and excitment more than before. They like to travel and see the world. We can see that every day the programs on TV get more exiting and consist of more intrigues but still it doesn´t seem to cut it, they want the real life. Today there´s also more posibilities to live out your dreams, it´s easy to travel and youth in Sweden have money. I think this is a good thing, great in fact. I belive that everybody feels better if they get to see other things and experience new cultures. You grow as a human, I know this since I have been to many different countries and I´ve grown every time and learned new things, both about life and about my self, and I´ve got wonderful memories that I always can look back on. If you just would stay indoors and watch the TV all the time soon you would start feeling down, I also know this of personal experience. In addition the interest of helping poor countries has increased for Swedish youth. This is great, you make a difference in the world and you get your adventure. Of course not every youth in Sweden feels this way but I think many do. As told this is only a personal theory and I do not know if there has been any research in this subject. As a conclusion I belive that youth in Sweden watch little TV beacouse they want to see the world and get real experiences, not just see other people doing things on the TV. I think this is great, everybody needs to see new things in real life and not only on the TV. TV could be fun of course although it very seldom gives you anything or makes you grow and learn things about yourself and according to me it is much more interesting to learn new things about yourself than about some character on a TV-show.
