In 1991 the European Union (EU) has promulgated the first law (EURO1) against the emissions of those cars that didn’t use the catalytic converter, a system for cars that uses another system called sonda lambda, these systems in cars with diesel engines and petrol engines catch the oxygen to excess from the combustion and convert the oxygen and ossidi of CO2 that come from the combustion in elements fewer polluting moreover the sonda lambda checks exhaust emission level in the catalytic converter; but this systems aren’t very effective because the catalytic converter has a structure with a narrow passage who doesn’t leave more fast exhaust emission.
For this reason the European Union has promulgated other laws against the emissions of polluting cars: - (EURO2) , in 1997, against diesel engines emissions; - (EURO3), in 2001, that imposed a new system against cars emissions (EOBD); - (EURO4), in 2006, and (EURO5), effective from only 2009.
The European laws EURO4 and EURO5 imposed in the European countries limits for cars polluting emissions ( CO2 , PM10, ...) more restrictive of before.
Moreover, in 2000, it was developed by PSA (Peugeot and Citroen) a system for diesel engines emissions: FAP; this system, for car models with diesel engines, with a fluid called “CERINA” who catches the agglomerate of exhausting gas who burn with a temperature less of 450 CO and between 300-400 Km cleans all the system.
With the promulgation of new laws against emissions (EURO4, EURO5) all cars factory (FIAT, FORD, RENAULT, GM, WW, ...) developed similar system for them diesel engines to reduce diesel emissions from their engines.
In my family to “help” the environment for example we go to technical assistance centre of our car brand (for example FIAT) every year for the annual check-up of car where the staff check the car and if necessary the staff repair or change the components with new original components moreover we make change oil motor level and car filter with new oil and filters because with a correct servicing the car has more life.
When we go somewhere we clean the car and we check oil motor level, cooling fluid level, other fluid and tyres pressure and sometimes when we go to petrol station we ask “special petrol” that clean the system of injection.
I think that a correct servicing of car reduce emission, consumption and assistance but what are the future to the “war” against car pollution emissions? Is it the use of GPL and Methane or Hydrogen and Electricity?
I think that every country should spend money with a politic to develop new system against cars emissions but also to improve the systems used up to now.
