Snowmobile

The snowmobile is a great toy for teenagers and adults. But it is not gentle to the nature. The snowmobile consumes a lot of gasoline, releases a lot of exhausts, and makes great noise. This causes the greenhouse effect and increases the acidification. But the great thing is that they now have started building much more environment friendly snowmobiles.

Snowmobiles can have 2-stroke engines or 4-stroke engines. The old 2-stroke engines are the worst for the nature. But the new ones that are built in later years are better. With new technology they have succeed to make the motors reduce the release of exhausts a lot.
The 4-stroke engines are fairly new on the market. These environment friendly engines are more quiet, don't consume a lot of gasoline and are almost free from smell. These engines can also be equipped with catalytic converters which reduce the exhausts further.

Alkylat fuel
Alkylat fuel is a environmentally adjusted fuel for the motors without catalytic converters, it's free from practically all the dangerous substances in ordinary fuel. Alkylat fuel is best for the old 2-stroke engines. Alkylat fuel is used at first as an additive to increase the quality in ordinary fuel.

Ethanol
Ethanol is presumably the fuel of the future for snowmobiles. The technology is there and is used in the United States of America and in Canada. Ethanol is produced by fermenting biomass. Ethanol reduces the discharge of carbon dioxide substantially. The advantage with ethanol, in addition to cleaner exhausts is an increased effect. The disadvantage with ethanol is the increased fuel consumption, which however evens itself out when the ethanol often is cheaper than ordinary fuel.
