Today the grocery stores are responsible for
a third of all pollution, but are they aware of it?
We know about it and we're also trying to do something to change it,
says Patrik Nygren, manager of ICA Kvantum.
The fact that a lot of today's pollution is due to the grocery stores
can sound a bit alarming. Everybody may not be aware of it, but it
can seem obvious that the people who work at the stores should know
about pollution.
We try to change it, because it’s absolutley not good that we
and all the other grocery stores are responsible for a third of all
pollution in the world, says Nygren.
In what way do you try to change it?
For example, we are the grocery store in town that has the biggest
range of eco food and we are recycling almost everything. My opinion
is that everybody has to do something to make the environment better.
When I ask Patrik what you, as a customer, can do to be as friendly
to the environment as possible and get all the grocery stores to understand
how important it is, he suddenly sounds serious.
As a customer I think it is important that you try to buy eco food
from serious trademarks and if the stores don't have what you're looking
for you should always ask if they can get it. You should also try
to recycle as much as possible.
He strongly points out the fact that a lot depends on the customers.
If they ask for eco food the stores will notice it and in that way
buy more of those goods to the store.
Nobody can do everything, but everybody can try to do something.
