Our project stressed two aspects of a healthy lifestyle, the food pyramid and the importance of breakfast. The food pyramid can be divided into five levels. At the bottom there are fruit and vegetables, they are important because high in vitamins, minerals and fibres. On the next level there carbohydrates, they give us energy ready to spend, that’s why we should eat bread, pasta and cereals frequently; nutritionists suggest wholemeal grains for our benefit. On the next level we find meat, fish, nuts and pulses, they are excellent sources of proteins. On the fourth level there is the group of milk and dairy products (yoghurt and cheese), some of the best sources of calcium. Finally, at the top pf the pyramid there are fats and sugar, we should eat them sparingly because they are high in calories and they are often unhealthy.

Breakfast is important because it gives us the energy we need to start the day. We should drink milk with cereals; milk is recommended for calcium and cereals because they are starchy food and provide us with energy to start with. Some pieces of fruit are recommended for their fibres and vitamins.
