One of the most famous English literature writers was Thomas Hardy. He was born in 1840 and died in 1920. He was born in a small countryside village in England called Dorchester. His upbringing largely influence his work so unsurprisingly his work is full of descriptive rural scenes and the main characters are usually farmers and peasants. In many ways religion was a huge part of his life and this is also shown in his work, although this is partly because religion was an important part of peoples life in the nineteenth century. Hardy was also a poet as well as a novelist. Many of his novels are liked so much today that they have been turned into films and television programmes. For example one of the most famous and well loved stories was 'Tess of the d'Urbervilles.' This was turned into a television programme. Hardy was a great man in his time and also inspired other novelists, and he was an all round talented man.
