At Salpausselkä we stood beside the trash cans and advised people to put their garbage to the right can. It sounds ridicilous, but people just don´t read the instructions beside the cans. And that´s the reason why we were there. It really was quite a nice way to spend a weekend. The weather was great, the sun was shining and it wasn´t too cold. Most of the people were friendly to us and thought that it was important to recycle in these kinds of big events, but of course there were a few persons who really didn´t see any point at all in recycling. At Salpusselkä, there were three kinds of garbage; bio waste, energy waste and dump waste. Sometimes it was really hard to know if you could, for example, put a juicecarton to energy waste, but we managed to get everything right, at least allmost everything. We all were very pleased to get this opportunity to work at Salpausselkä, especially when the work we did was so important. I hope that our cooperation with Salpausselkä-team continues in the future too. So, remember to recycle !!

When the Salpaussselkä winter games took place last March, were we, a group of students from Hollola high school, ready to guide people how to recycle. We had studied recycling at school beforehand. Hollola high school has been recycling for a few years now. We recycle our garbage and waste paper.
