Although Malpas is a small village it is full of character. There are always events taking place from school fairs, to jumble sales and other events raising money for various charities. But what is there for young people? How can we avoid the stereotypical opinions that we are "hooligans" and "always cause a disturbance"? How could the young people of Malpas have voice and share their opinions with the older members of the community. A Young Persons Parish Council seemed like the only solution. A group of 8 people between the ages 12-17 years old, got together to help young people get what they want. The just task we had was to try to establish a youth club in Malpas... and we were successful!! The building is yet to be established but we are busy fund-raising. The latest thing we have got involved in is 'Agenda 21.' This is Cheshire's way of getting various people together to try and help with the environment. It was decided that young people should get involved as the future of the world lies in our hands. An additional group has been formed called NYPEN. Young people ages between 13 and 19 are going to form a 'care group' to help Cheshire look after the environment. Various tasks will be undertaken especially recycling and pollution. So, if a small town like Malpas can help the environment surely if different countries got together we could make a difference, because the future of the earth lies in our hands...
