Music News - Single Reviews

Aqua – Turn Back Time
After hearing the incredibly annoying "Barbie Girl" and "Dr. Jones", you would expect this group's third single to be much the same. However, it's hard to believe this is actually the same group- this is actually a serious ballad with no hint of novelty. Not exactly appealing to my tastes, but I shall not dismiss it as bad, as it shows that there's more to Aqua than wacky, irritating tunes. Perhaps they could be around for some time, after all.

Theaudience – A Pessimist is never disappointed
A brilliant title for a song, and a rather good song as well. This new act have been producing some very listenable tunes, and could quite easily be heading for success. This song should be their first big hit- buy it, it's well worth a listen.

Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince – Lovely Day
The very names of Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince rank among the most ridiculous in music history, and their songs rank among the extreme worst. This is a version of a very old Bill Withers song, and the duo have, unsurprisingly, completely wrecked it. Why are they so popular?

The Latest News in the Music World

Robbie Williams is currently working on a follow-up album to his million selling "Life Thru A Lens". Its working title is "Man Machine", unlikely to be released as this should it be confused with the old Kraftwerk LP. Neil Tennant of Pet Shop Boys and Neil Hannon of Divine Comedy shall guest on it.

To coincide with the forthcoming world cup, The Lightning Seeds have teamed up again with comedians David Baddiel and Frank Skinner to re-record their 1996 anthem "Three Lions". The lyrics in the verses will be changed, but the "It's coming home" chorus will be kept the same. The new version looks set to rival the other World Cup song, "On Top Of The World" by Ian McCulloch, which features the Spice Girls among many other artists.

The soundtrack to the forthcoming X-Files movie will feature tracks by Noel Gallagher of Oasis, Bjork, The Cure and Aswad.

All Saints, currently enjoying the success of their version of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers "Under The Bridge", have postponed their tour until the birth of group member Melanie's Baby. They will concentrate instead on recording their second album. Meanwhile, it is not yet known if they have realised that "Under The Bridge" is about drug addiction.

Boyzone promoted the release of their new album "Where We Belong" with a party in London, in which they converted a warehouse into a fairground for the night. Group member Ronan Keating, who recently broke millions of fans hearts by committing the crime of getting married, said "Even though I'm married I can still have fun!" Perhaps the group will put a rubbish tip on the album cover, to correspond with the title.

Rumour has it that the Spice Girls have plans to make a second movie – but it will not be a sequel to the box office smash "Spiceworld". The rumours say that the girls will not play themselves in the movie but a fictitious group. These rumours are yet to be confirmed.
