A Typical School Day
School begins at 8:50 with pupils attending roll call where you can
chat to your friends, or do some last minute homework before
class starts. Assembly which takes place twice a week for sixth
form, is where announcements and school sports results are
mentioned.
There are nine periods a day each lasting 35 minutes but we are
always late for class because we stop to chat to friends on the
way, much to the annoyance of the teachers! This is because in
our school we do not have breaks in between classes but rather
move from one class to the next.
There is an additional period for lunch which lasts 40 minutes and a
15 minute break at 10:50 when we meet up with friends and go to
the canteen or the sixth form center.
Between forms 1 and 3 pupils study around 16 subjects. This is
recuced to 9 or 10 subjects for forms 4 and 5. Once pupils reach
sixth form they have a choice of studying 3 or 4 subjects of their
own personal choice. Most pupils study 3 and in addition they have
between 10 and 14 periods to study, in the week, during which you
are meant to study individually, when in fact most of the time is
spent talking and eating.
School finally finishes at 3:20 and pupils make their way happily
home by car or on the school bus.
