A Blast in Ö-vik !

Örnsköldsvik is a great city. You have lots of things to do,
intresting things to visit and many things to look at.
Here we will give you a taste of some of the things.

The Paradise Baths - A new bath culture in Örnsköldsvik.

This is the best tropical bath in the north of Sweden. The temperature is warm and the building is full of green plants. You have two slides and one of them is 100 meters long and goes outside the building. It´s the longest slide in Sweden. In this public baths you can find Sweden´s only wild stream, 2 bubble pools, massage places for the back and feet and a water pist.

All the year around you can swim outside in a pool that is connected with the inside. They also have a relaxing department and there you can find a bubble pool, a cold water pool, a steam sauna and a cosy room with an open fire where you can sit and relax. But you have to be 18 years old to be there. Why, well...maybe beacuse they serve you champagne or beer if you want to.

If you are disabled you can find an own pool with 34*C hot water. As always when you have fun you get hungry. But we can easily solve that problem. The Paradise baths have got two restaurants. One of them you can visit in your bathing suit but the other you have to be dressed to visit.

The Paradise baths is specially known for its steam sauna. There both women and men sit together. When you are in the sauna you only can see about 2 meters infront of you.

Ulvön-the pearl of Bothnia.

Was first populated in the 16th century. The fishing village was once the biggest in Sweden and today it is a paradise for people in pleasure boats and landlubbers.

Ulvön has been known for many years for their fermented Baltic herring, and it´s located in the archipelago of Höga Kusten. It´s a charming island with beautiful nature, nice walkingareas and here you can find the characteristic red cliffs of Rappakivigranite that meet the sea. Ulvön consist of two islands, the north and the south island. It is situated about 30km south of Örnsköldsvik. The islands are a big intrest in the history of culture.

You don´t have to have a boat of your own to visit Ulvön. During the summertime passengerboats go from Örnsköldsvik, Köpmanholmen, Docksta and Ullånger to the island. The boats have 160 seats, but can take 200 passengers.

The habour of Ulvön is on the north island. Most of the people who live on the island all the year have their houses in the habour. Those who first started to catch fish and who made Ulvön a wellknown island were people coming from Gävle and other mid Swedish towns. For many hundred years Ulvön has been known for it´s fishing. But today there are only a few fishermen by trade left and only a few cans of fermented Baltic herring are made.

If you want to have fun you definitely can visit Ulvön. You have Ulvön Hotel that has dancing, eating and a lot of more to do on the schedule. Outside you have two pools and a miniature golf course. If you walk along the beachpromenade, you can find different sorts of shops that can offer you all sorts of fish.Ulvön has an old church (buildt in 1892), where it is very popular to get married.

In the "Ulvö dagarna" people from everywhere come to visit. The whole island is full of people. Far away travilers that might have been informed about Ulvön, and got "hooked on the feeling", come to feel "the Ulvön spirit".

Connected to these days is the Ulvö regatta. It´s very fun to watch all the sailingboats that are competing. And if you take a look in the habour, your eyes might popout. Because there you can find so beautiful boats. Old wooden boats or new big yachts. But in this mess of beautiful boats you can find an old fisherman who is cleaning his net.

In the wintertime you can get to Ulvön by boat or a hovercraft. Two characteristics for Ulvön under the winterseason is fantastic views and a wonderful silence. You can go on an impressive journey with a scooter or just study a fisherman when he makes a net.

In summertime by boat.

In wintertime by hovercraft
As you can see you can have a very splended time if you visit Ulvön, no matter what time in the year you go there.
