Caravaggio

Caravaggio is passion, violence, play, emotion, share and truth. He is the representation of authentic feelings, of the difficulty of the live, of the nacked reality not sublimed but reported as it is seen and as he faced it.
His plays dig a furrow with the painting of the past, they are a new, original and devasting proposals that disturb the uncritical academic thought, that higlights the suffered and anxious nature of the human mind. Up to not long time ago they thought that Michelangelo Merisi, Fermo’s son, "teacher of house and architet of the marquis of Caravaggio", was born on September 28 1573 in Caravaggio, ancient village near Bergamo. But the last researches on his life advance the birth to 1571 and move it in Milan. In the 1854 he started working in a shop at the painter Simone Peterzano, Titian’s student, who had good celebrity in Milan. After April 6 1588, Michelangelo went to Venice and studied Giorgione’s, Titian’s and Tintoretto’s paintings. In 1592 the young and boisterus painter became an expert artist, he lived at Pandolgo Pucci that, in change of little money, he gave him a small quantity of vegetarian food, for this reason he called him monsignor "Salad".

Caravaggio’s health is delicate, his fragile physicist seems to conflict with his irascible and hothead temperament and then he wasn’t satisfied because he felt he was appreciated by the others. The Painter lived as a stray, with dangerous friends: bravados, overbearances, play of chance; a life stolen to the life, an existence conduct without a program. But when he painted everything was blanked. Caravaggio had maybe needed to live in that way to pick the dramatic value of the existence up.Its first paintings are: the sick Bacchino, Boy bite from a green lizard, the Bacco, the young man with basket of fruit. Living is difficult, the models cost; as his models will be built with nothing: a vase of wizened flowers, a basket of fruit. In 90s he tighened a solid friendship with the painter Prospero Orsi who introduced him to his first guardian, the cardinal Francesvco Maria del Monte , thin notional mind and fond of art. Here, they produced some splendid works that render him a celebrity. The good fortune, Bari, the Concert of young people, the Rest during the escape in Egypt are all paintings ordered him by Francesco Maria del Monte. His more important paintings are: The crucifixion of saint Pietro, the vocation of saint Paul, Lady of the pilgrims, Martyrdom of Matteo saintt, Martytdom of saint Pietro, the chest of fruit, David that cuts the head to Golia, Giuditta and Oloforme, Head of the jellyfish, saint Matteo and the angel. In 1606 Caravaggio moved to Naples and there he lived about a year, in this period he produced some famous paintings: The scouring of Christ, the seven operas of mercy, the Lady of the rosary.

In 1608 Caravaggio left for Malta where he remained for some months, being quickly involved among the magnates. But also his life in Malta became impossible, he committed a homiced. Caravaggio was called to appear in front of a court.

The order from Malta expelled him for ignominy and the exhausted painter ran away to Sicily, disembarking in Siracusa. Here in 1610 he was changed for a criminal and he was put in prison. As soon as he was free he ran to the beach but the boat, with all his properties, he had already sailed. He died because of an evil fever few days later .
