Dying because of a tablet

In the "Corrire della Sera" an Italian newspaper of the 2/ 11/ 99, there was an article about the problems of the drug in discos and the physical damages that they cause to some young people in Lombardy; it contains in fact the news of the death of a boy in Brescia, a city near Milan, and news of other three cases of poisoning.
All these cases were caused by the assumption of a tablet of ecxtasy, a sythetic variation of the amphetamine that has a chemical base structure which is easily modifiable. Because of this, many of the new tablets are not included in the charts by which Holland informs other Countries about these drugs and force them to stop their sale. The effects of this drug are revealed after about half an hour from the asumption and they usually last from four to six hours. After the assumption people feel euphoric and with a lot of energy; then , after a period of time, they feel nausea, vomit, the increasing of cardiac pulsation and of blood pressure (one of the causes of death), tension of the muscles and depression. Few tablets are enough to cause cerebral haemorrhage, coma, malignant fever (beyond the 43 degrees and uncontrollable). The researchers say that the damages to the brain caused by the ecxtasy are very serious and irreversible.
However we cannot consider it as dependence substance, as it’s taken only to have some "snazzy".
Personally, I think that, are not sufficient only the block of the police next to the discos and the presence of police officers in bourgeois in these places to solve this problem. These are in fact only ways to prevent that the ecxtasy enters in the discos. I think that is fundamental to prevent that the people require it. So, we have to try to understand why young people look for the "snazzy" using this method; only in this way, understanding their problems, in fact, it will be possible to eliminate this substance. I also believe that the person that uses the ecxtasy and the drugs, have generally a lot of problems and that they are surely weak. In fact, they are not able to face their problems and so, they think to run away from them dulling with those substances that doesn’t solve their problems, and that , instead, create some new ones, very serious, to the health.
