Skate park

My name is Owen Mead and I live in the U.K.. I live in a little village called Churton, the county is called Cheshire. I have lived there for about eleven years now.

I have been skateboarding for about a year and a half now and the issue which concerns me is the fact that there isn’t a skatepark close by. The nearest skatepark is about 25 minutes away. The problem with this is that currently I am not driving. However even when I will be it will cost an awful lot of money in petrol. So currently I would like a skatepark close by although that appears to much to ask.
What irritates me is the fact that there are so many possible land sites close to my area yet no progress has ever been made. Every time someone tries to raise money for the skatepark the end result is never there. The local council just don’t help enough for recreational areas.

During a recent visit to France I realised the major difference between our council and Frances. When you walk around the french areas you begin to see the hundreds of skateparks all layed out in front of you. The fact that the french cater for the kids and teenagers more efficiantly and more regually than the English becomes crystal clear to you. Why this is, I can’t understand as it seems terible to think that the French are kinder and think about their teenagers ect more than the English.

In the summer I like to go skateboarding around schools, industrial sites and cities but when the sun goes and the rain takes it’s place it becomes to wet to skateboard outside. This is why an indoor park should be built in most areas, to cater for skateboarders. There is a sports and social club just down my road and if that was the case in France then there would almost certainly be a skatepark there as it would fit into the title Sports and Social club. It realy angers me to think that our council don’t cater as much for us as the French.
